Fantasy Football Tonight 7/7

REMEMBERING THE DRAFT

I recently posted my review of the 2009 NFL Draft as it pertains to fantasy football in our Fantasy Football Tonight War Room. In this feature I went round by round and gave a detailed report on the type of player they are, what system they fit into and what we can expect from them this season. Here are some highlights from this entry:
----------------------------------------

ROUND 1

Kenny Britt -- WR --Tennessee Titans -- Big, strong WR who uses his body well. Can beat the jam at the line but doesn't have great speed. Bit of a lazy practice player. Will have to adjust attitude to blend in with Titans teammates. Should easily be the #1 WR for Tennessee early in the season. Has big play potential and gives the Titans a legitimate red zone threat in the air.

ROUND 2

LeSean McCoy -- RB -- Philadelphia Eagles -- The eventual replacement for Brian Westbrook. Great pass catcher, has home run speed and can punch it in from the goal line. Will get an opportunity to run behind one of the best offensive lines in the NFL this year. Needs to become a better blocker and when he does will be a major player in the Eagles offense.

ROUND 3

Brandon Tate -- WR -- New England Patriots -- Could have been first WR taken in draft if not for a terrible knee injury (ACL & MCL). Patriots may have hit the jackpot if Tate can recapture his form. Quick and sure handed, Tate was a game changer in college and will provide the Pats another legitimate option up top if healthy. Big upside here...

ROUND 4

Shawn Nelson -- TE -- Buffalo Bills -- Cousin of Chiefs DT Glenn Dorsey. Could play WR in the NFL. A fantastic athlete, Nelson has great size and speed and can get separation downfield. Has great body control and long arms that can pluck the ball out of the air. Needs to add strength in order to be an adequate blocker in the NFL. Great pick by the Bills and could be a strong fantasy TE in 2009.
