CINCINNATI CREEPING TOWARDS THE EDGE?
Drew Rosenhaus, the agent for free agent RB Edgerrin James recently had a conversation with Cincinnati Bengals General Manager Paul Brown over the phone that lasted just under 20 minutes and is said to have been just a "feeling out" process for the team. The Bengals are somewhat interested in bringing James to camp this summer but mostly as a backup RB to incumbent starter Cedric Benson. This seems like a pretty good fit for both James and the Bengals but no follow up contact has been made since that initial phone call. Stay tuned...
EAGLES OFFENSIVE LINE UPDATE
Just in case you hadn't noticed, the Eagles went out this offseason and made their offensive line both younger and more athletic by acquiring LT Jason Peters from the Bills and signing free agent RG Stacy Andrews. If RT Shawn Andrews can play to prior form after suffering from depression and a back injury last season, then this unit could be the best in the NFL in 2009. Just imagine what a healthy Brian Westbrook, DeSean Jackson or even LeSean McCoy could do in this offense if these guys up front stay healthy all season.
BRETT FAVRE BUYS A CONDO
Yep..it's a slow news day. But I figured you guys might want to know that Brett Favre and his wife put down a $30,000 deposit on a condo in Edina, MN. This is a done deal guys. I feel that it is the wrong move for the Vikings right now after acquiring Sage Rosenfels but hey, it's their obsession..er, I mean team.
THE GHOST IMPRESSES
The one player new Cleveland Browns head coach Eric Mangini cannot seem to stop talking about is backup RB Jerome Harrison. Mangini sees a slightly more polished version of Leon Washington in Harrison with his ability to get around the corner on long runs and catch the ball out of the backfield. I have long been a fan of Jerome Harrison and could not understand why he wasn't given more playing time with the old coaching regime. It appears that Mangini will give Harrison plenty of opportunities to prove himself in the preseason and possibly win the starting job outright. Whatever his role is for the Browns this year, he will touch the ball enough and should be considered a prime fantasy sleeper.
