Fantasy Football Tonight 7/3

QUICK HITS
Kansas City is forcing new starting QB Matt Cassel to work out of a pro-style set during minicamps and OTA's. Much of Cassel's success last season was due to the Patriots allowing him to run the offense out of the shotgun most of the time where he is much more comfortable. This will be an interesting development if the Chiefs indeed make Cassel use a five or seven step drop because it will make everybody now wonder why the heck you traded for him if not to use him for his known strengths?

My sources in Arizona are telling me that QB Matt Leinart has been nothing short of spectacular this offseason in the way he has handled himself and the great strides he has made both as a football player and as a man. Leinart is said to have been working out like a maniac, training in mixed martial arts while also spending a lot of time with QB coach Chris Miller.

Tampa Bay will not start rookie QB Josh Freeman in game 1 of the season unless both Byron Leftwich and Luke McCown completely fall on their face and Freeman dazzles them. Expect Leftwich to get the job out of training camp but have a pretty short leash if he is ineffective.

The Cincinnati Bengals will be the team featured on this season of HBO's Documentary Hard Knocks. There is just so much here to go wrong there is no way that this season will be boring. Great choice HBO!!

It is becoming more and more likely the Colt Brennan is going to beat out Todd Collins for the backup QB job in Washington. Brennan has made good progress this offseason and appears to have developed better form and technique. If he can produce similar results to his first NFL preseason then the job is his for the taking.

The Chicago Bears currently sit $17.67 million under the cap for this season. It appears that management is holding onto this money for the time being in hopes it can trade for or land one of the big free agent WR's still left. This means they are likely to at least consider Plaxico Burress, Marvin Harrison or Brandon Marshall to pair with their new franchise QB Jay Cutler. Harrison is a long shot and would be a terrible signing but it looks like the Bears are up to something hanging onto all that cap space when plenty of their current roster are in need of new and long term deals.
