Fantasy Football Tonight 7/22

My training camp preview continues with the...

AFC SOUTH
HOUSTON TEXANS
Watch out for the Texans running game this season. They brought in offensive line guru Alex Gibbs to install the same cut blocking scheme that he made popular in Denver during the Mike Shanahan era. Fantasy owners have been aware for years that Denver RB's produce year after year thanks to the teachings of Gibbs and his successors. When Gibbs went to Atlanta a few years back, the Falcons running game exploded and moved from 16th in the league to 1st. The Texans have the right mix of offensive lineman to make the system work and Steve Slaton could explode in a cut back system like this.
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
The real change in Indianapolis this season will not be the offense as many suspect. After all, Peyton Manning runs the offense anyways so the loss of offensive coordinator Tom Moore will not be that big a deal. But the defense will miss the planning and strategy of Tony Dungy this year that is for sure. But staying on the offensive side of the ball the person that most intrigues me is WR Pierre Garcon. I like his size and hands and he has 2 years of experience of playing with Peyton Manning and company which makes him quite a sleeper candidate this season. I like Garcon's upside more than Anthony Gonzalez quite frankly because his ceiling is much higher in terms of fantasy potential.
JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS
I absolutely love rookie RB Rashad Jennings. He has such a tremendous blend of size and speed as well as pass catching ability out of the backfield. I was talking about Jennings up in the fourth round of the NFL Draft back in April but he didn't get taken until the seventh round by the Jaguars. This was a steal as far as I am concerned and with an improved offensive line I could see Jennings providing critical relief for Maurice Jones-Drew this season. The fact that he attended a small school in Liberty was the only reason why Jennings lasted so long but please do not make this mistake in your fantasy draft this year.
TENNESSEE TITANS
At one point last year I called the Titans offense the best in the NFL. While that didn't quite hold up, handing the reigns to veteran QB Kerry Collins stabilized the offense last year after a very rocky season and a half with Vince Young at the helm. Collins can make all the throws and isn't afraid to push the ball downfield when something opens up. I am interested to see how he and rookie WR Kenny Britt work together in training camp. Britt is a very confident kid who has the skills and swagger to be an elite NFL WR. The Titans have acquired so many weapons now on offense that my bold statement may indeed have been just a year off.
TOMORROW: AFC WEST
