The True Guru Wins His First Championship of 2008!

This has been a very rough playoffs for me this year, but I finally pulled done my first championship of the year. I won the Vegas Vs Texas League, which the championship match was a rematch of the 2007 championship. Mongol Horde (Mike Santiago) has always been one of the strongest managers and franchises in the 9 year existence of the league. He has won 2 championships and been to a total of four. This year his team just did not show up week 16. He fell prey to bad weather and bad players. The final score of "VVTL Superbowl IX was 154-99. The match did have some excitement as the score was 154-54 after the Sunday DAY games, and I was completely finished with my players. Mongol Horde still had three big players in Greg Jennings, Matt Forte, and the NY Giants defensive. Those three players could get 100 points, but only managed 45 points.

In my other two semifinal matchups I was able to win one and lose the other. In the Fantasy Dynasty League I defeated a great competitor in Coming Back For More in a dogfight that went down to the wire 283-272. I was down by 33 points going into the Monday night game, but I had Gregg Jennings, Lance Briggs, Charles Tillman, Charles Woodson, and Tramon Williams left and Coming Back For More had only Aaron Kampmen. I overcame the deficit with Charles Woodson's 3rd quarter interception and never looked back.

In my 3rd and final matchup in the Coast-2-Coast League, I was defeated 138-82 by Tharp's Titans. I was the defending champion in this league and over the past two seasons I had a combined record of 27-4, but this week I couldn't pull it out. The lost primarily can be blamed on the weather and injuries. My elite players like Kurt Warner, Larry Fitzgerald. Frank Gore was out and Westbrook was playing hurt. Other then that I just made bad replacement starts like Lance Moore over Antonio Bryant, benching Tyler Thigpen, Chris Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald. I started Matt Schaub and it was a miserable failure. No matter what I would have done, I wouldn't have overcome the amount of points Tharp's Titans put up. In the three year history of this fantastic league, Tharp's Titans and LV Cowboys (me) have each won a championship and now Tharp's Titans will go for a second one.
