The Guru Gridiron Report: Week 10 Bench/Start Quarterbacks
QUARTERBACKS YOU MUST START
There are some very good must start QBs this week. First let's start with Aaron Rodgers vs. division foe Minnesota. Its on the road, but a must win against a weak pass defense. Brett Farve is coming off a big win, but a poor fantasy day. He will make up for it with 2-3 TDs this week against St. Louis. He is familiar on the road in St. Louis and should have little problem playing there. Matt Ryan will get in a shootout with Drew Brees, so look for Matt Ryan to get lots of garbage points and some real points as well. Finally Philip Rivers is back from a week off and will go nuts on Kansas City.
Others: Peyton Manning, Jake Delhomme, Kurt Warner
Other Quarterbacks To Consider Starting With Some Risk
Several QBs fall into the risk category this week starting with Jay Cutler. He's not been playing well lately, but as usual you have to start him. Scheffler still appears out, but with Stokely and Peyton Hillis becoming active participants it might take pressure of the WRs. Either way Cutler needs a running attack to balance the offense, so look for Ryan Torian to see lots of action. We also like Gus Frerotte. The risk this week is he's Gus Frerotte, but he can hold is own and will likely be playing from behind most of the game, so he will throw allot. Everyone is hyped up about Sage Rosenfel, but e have to say that this is not a good matchup for him. Baltimore has an aggressive pass defense and its effective even on the road. Start him if you have no other choice, but consider others over him in this category. Finally, Shaun Hill is a big risk, but we like him and we say start him if you need a BYE week or injury replacement. He was our pick from the beginning of the year, so we are high on him.
Others: , Trent Edwards, Donovan McNabb,, Kerry Collins, Chad Pennington, Matt Cassel
Please Bench These QuarterbacksIf Culpepper starts, bench him. Its not even a consideration. Marc Bulger will be on his back all day against the Jets, so bench him. Finally, our bench QB of the week goes to Eli Manning. He is on the road against the Eagles. Not good for him. He will put up some points, but at best 1/3 if what you would expect.
Others: Joe Flacco, Seneca Wallace, Byron Leftywich(If he starts), JaMarcus Russell
Sleeper Quarterbacks
We have three great sleepers for you. David Garrard is coming off a rough week. Look for him rebound against the Detroit Lions on the road. We expect 240 yards and 2 TDs. Brady Quinn is getting his first start of his career and its against a beaten down injured defense of the Denver Broncos at he's at home. Quinn is a deep sleeper because of his inexperience, but he could perform very well. Tyler Thigpen has a great matchup against San Diego. He will be playing from behind and without LJ, so we expect 2-3 TDs and 235 yards.
Good luck. Next are our Runningbacks!
