The Guru Gridiron Report: Week 5 Bench/Start Quarterbacks
QUARTERBACKS YOU MUST START
Week 5 has several great match ups that quarterbacks should be able to dominate in. We like Jake Delhomme this week at home against KC. KC has been solid against the pass, but they are on the road. Both Manning brothers, Eli and Peyton should have big days. Big brother Peyton Manning will feast on Houston at home while Eli Manning will give Seattle all they can handle in New York. The match up of Denver QBs will also provide us with a shootout. Jay Cutler over matches Tampa Bay's Tampa 2 defense and with that Brian Griese will be throwing allot (60+) and should have success against Denver's defense.
Others: Tony Romo, Kurt Warner, Philip Rivers, Drew Brees
Other Quarterbacks To Consider Starting With Some Risk
There is some risk to worry about this week with some QBs. Aaron Rodgers would be a solid start this week against Atlanta, but because of his shoulder injury his start is up in the air. We like Matt Schaub as well this week as well. We would make him a must start, but he hasn't had but 1 good game this season so far, so let's see 2 in a row. We think he'll do great in week 5. Jason Campbell and Donovan McNabb faceoff in Philly. We don't like either quarterback in this east division match up. However, both should pass plenty and both will find limited success. Finally Matt Cassel and J.T. O'Sullivan face off in San Francisco and this game should be a good one. Cassel will throw 1-2 TDs and finally get the Patriots offense going. Don't expect a huge game from J.T. O'Sullivan, but he should get 1-2 TDs himself.
Others: Trent Edwards, Kyle Orton
Please Bench These Quarterbacks
Bench Kerry Collins against the vaunted Baltimore Raven defense. We also do not like Matt Ryan against Green Bay's defense, however if Rodgers doesn't play that could upgrade Ryan's points because of the fact he'll touch the ball more and field position could be better.
Others: Jon Kitna, Damon Huard
Sleeper Quarterbacks
We have two sleepers this week. They are a stretch, but they are good ones. Look at Chad Pennington against San Diego. Rivers should score easily and quickly and that will force Miami to pass a little more. Look for Pennington to throw 2 TDs for 200 yards. The other is Matt Hasselbeck. He's getting Bobby Engram back and he will get caught up in a high scoring affair with the Giants defense. He will be under pressure all game, but we do think he will get 2 TDs and 250 yards.
Good luck. Next are our Runningbacks!
