The Guru Gridiron Report: The True Guru Gets Back To Winning 5-1

Leagues: 6 (3 Yahoo!, 2 CBS Sportsline, 1 ESPN)
Total Record: 24-6

This was a great comeback week for The True Guru. I managed to win in 5 leagues and only losing in the NSP Experts League. Most of my players played great games with a few explosive performances. I remain undefeated in 3 leagues, but my biggest win of the week came by the smallest of margins, less then 1 point.
Here are my six matchups for week 5:

Coast 2 Coast League

The Wildcats1192 simply did not show up this week and if they had they still wouldn't have won as I scored my second highest score of the season. It was also the 4 time in 5 weeks I broke 100 points in this low scoring league. Every player on my team except for the Dallas defense scored in double digits. Kurt Warner and Larry Fitzgerald combined for 38 points and Steve Slaton tacked on 21.50 on way to a blowout victory. I remained undefeated with the most points in a very competitive league.

Football Dynasty VI Another big week in the Dynasty league. IN this high scoring league where you start 21 offensive and defensive players I broke 300 points for the third time this season and I remained undefeated as well. Along with Ryan Hallam from Fighting Chance Fantasy, we are the only undefeated teams left. Right before game time I had to bump Matt Schaub and I pumped in JT O'Sullivan to the tune of 27.67 points. My three runningbacks (Reggie Bush, Michael Turner and Selvin Young) combined for 66 points and that was with Young only getting 5.7 points. He was a BYE week start. My WR core remains one of the best assembled in the league with Terrell Owens, Greg Jennings, and Lee Evans getting a combined 70 points. ON the defensive side it was a let down week. Kyle Vanden Bosch got zero points and only three defenders broke into double digits. I did maintain most points in this league as well.

J.A.I.L. LeagueI crossed paths with the commissioner Johnny Archive and it was not his day. To be fair he was unable to swap out Matt Schaub late before game time and lost some points. However in a league where QBs are powerless he would have still lost big. Overall my team played well. With Burress suspended I start rookie DeSean Jackson and a tradegy in the scoring system did not allow him to get points for a TD return, so he only got me 1 point. However Terrell Owens and Larry Fitzgerald provided me with 33 combined points and Jason Witten added in 17. The big player for a third straight week was Steve Slaton with 21 points. One more shout out to my Bears defense who scored a season high 26 points against the hapless Lions. It was a great team performance and a solid 117 points scored.

Vegas Vs Texas League

This was the biggest win of the season for me. At 2-2 and trailing the division leader by 2 games and a tiebreaker it was a must win. Not only did I keep pace with the LV Ravens, but I took sole possession of 2nd place in the division with a narrow less than 1 point win over the TexBengals. Fergie as we call him entered the league last season and has yet to defeat me in three tries. The outstanding performer of the day was the Cardinals defense. I started them over my Vikings defense and it proved to be the difference. The Cardinals defense put up 30 points, but even more important was a last minute sack that put me over. I was without Farve and start Griese over Garrard. bad move, but I got the "W", so I move on to week 6.

NSP Experts League
This was my lone loss of the week. Luckylester.com is the top team in this league and I felt I could upset him for his first loss of the season, but my players didn't performs as I expected. Still nursing an injured Colston, my receiving corps did nothing scoring a combined 18 points between Meachem, Marshall, and DeSean Jackson. My RBs did exceptional starting Felix Jones and Addai, netting 30 points. This lost can be directed towards the WRs, Antonio Gates, and Drew Brees. If they would have done what was expect I could have made up the 35 points.

Fantasy Football Search Expert League This was a huge win for me in the Fantasy Football Search Expert League. Not only did I knock off one of the undefeated Eastern division teams, but I prevented myself from falling under .500 as 3-2 sounds so much better than 2-3. The big players of the day in this league were Reggie Bush (26.7), Tony Romo (23), and Randy Moss (28). I have to say I was pleased with Ike Hillard with 12 points and my TE Heath Miller made a fantasy appearance with 15 point. Overall it was a well played game on both ends. Owners Box Sports WRs failed him with 2 of them getting zeros and TO getting 17 points. He did give me an early scare and held the lead most of the day with an outstanding 27 point day from Chris Cooley. Going into Monday he still had Drew Brees and I had Reggie Bush and a 36 point lead. I didn't worry much, but things can happen. Thank God in this case I came away with a big win.
