The Guru Gridiron Report: The True Guru Gets Big Wins 4-2

Leagues: 6 (3 Yahoo!, 2 CBS Sportsline, 1 ESPN)
Total Record: 28-8
Matchup wise this was one of my toughest week so far. It had everything you could ask for. Bad coaching decisions, races down to the wire, blowouts, and big wins with tough losses. I entered week 6 undefeated in 3 leagues and I leave week 6 undefeated in 1 league. Both my losses this week were my first in those respective leagues, but that's what made the wins I had so big. In my big money league I pulled out a tough win and in the two expert league I managed big wins as well. Lets check it all out.
Here are my six matchups for week 5:

Coast 2 Coast League

I got lucky this week and faced off against the last place winless The Lost Boys and man are they lost. They had a big chance to upset the undefeated Cowboys, who had their second worst performance of the season. Yet, the defending champions prevailed by 36 points. The big players in this weeks game were Kurt Warner, Larry Fitzgerald , Reggie Wayne, and Frank Gore. Those for alone scored roughly 62 points enough for the win. My other 5 players totaled 21.4. Next week will be much tougher has I face the second place 5-1 team and I have several players on the BYE week including my Cardinals and Brian Westbrook.

Football Dynasty VI I was handed my first loss this week in the Dynasty league and it wasn't even close. I held onto a late lead, but by Sunday night I was down and done. He still had Braylon Edwards. Greg Jennings, Tony Romo, and Reggie Bush had huge games for me, but I couldn't fight off even bigger games from BRaylon Edwards, Drew Brees, and Larry Fitzgerald. He really won this matchup in the defensive players where my defensive guys never showed up, and his had huge days. My biggest disappointments this week were Robert Meachem getting me zero points, Dustin Keller nearly nothing, and Michael Turner only netting my 7.4 points. It was a bad week, but I have to dust it off as I take on the commissioner next week in another brutal showdown.

J.A.I.L. LeagueAnother league that I lost my first game in. This league run by my friend Johnny Archive has been intense and I've managed to perform the best overall. There were two of 14 teams left undefeated going into week 6. Now there are none. What really cost me this week were my 2 runningbacks who combined for 6 points. My Bears defense didn't help much either with only 4 points, but Jonathan Stewart and Steve Slaton were just bad. I did have some points on the bench with Rhodes and Derrick Ward, and my Cardinals defense, but in the end poor managing cost me this one.

Vegas Vs Texas League

This was my best game of the week. Not only did I score the high score for the week netting me $15, but I did it against a division rival who beat me in week 1. Marion Barber was the story here as he pushed with over 30 points. Andre Johnson got back in my starting lineup and also put up 30+ points and even my kicker Josh Brown had a huge game. This one was close until mid way through the afternoon games and it was over after that. This was a big win as the Vegas division leader lost, so I picked up a game. I'm 1 game out for the division lead.

NSP Experts League
This game went down to the wire and I have to thank Wes Welker for the win. He got some mop up catches that pulled me ahead late in this matchup, but Ryan still had his vaunted NY Giants defense left on Monday night and I was done, but had a 5 point lead. Defenses don't carry much punch in this league, so I had a good chance and the Giants defense did nothing. In the end I pulled out a 6 point win. My receiving core came up big for me as Brandon Marshall, DeSean Jackson, and Wes Welker all provided big points in this PPR league. Antonio Gates added a TD as well. I poorly coached this team taking chances like benching Brees for Farve and Pittman for Felix Jones. I would have crushed FCF if I had started my normal 9.

Fantasy Football Search Expert League This was a big win. First I beat a good friend and rival Rhett Oldham, but even better I took over 1st place in the West division with a 4-2 record. My team has had two huge games over the past two weeks and this week I took home high score. This matchup was over as it started. Big days from Tony Romo, Reggie Bush, and Thomas Jones led the way to a big victory. Even a BYE week start for Steve Breaston helped big with nearly 18 points. FSZ did mount a comeback with Philip Rivers, but in the end the deficit was too large to overcome. This was a much needed win in the expert league.
