The Guru Gridiron Report: Expert League Week 2 Games

This is the start of our Guru Gridiron Report on the expert league being hosted at http://www.fantasyfootballsearch.com/. Every week will bring you updates, scores, and analysis of what went on in that week in The 2008 Fantasy Football Search Expert League.

Fighting Chance Fantasy 130, Big Game Fantasy Sports 116
This was a high scoring and exciting match up between Ryan Hallam and Patrick Welsh. Ryan pulled it out with the performance to two players we have been high on all year, Marion Barber and Brandon Marshall. Between those two players FCF got 70 points. BGFP had a much better more well rounded team with great a performance from Tony Scheffler, but didn't get enough to outscore those two amazing performances.

Fantasy Football Starters 67, Mock Draft Central 54
In the lowest scoring affair if the week Fantasy Football Starters managed to beat a weak Mock Draft Central. Both teams had very tough weeks with only 4 of 18 players scoring in the double digits. FFS pulled it off with solid performances from Frank Gore and Hines Ward. I'm sure this is one of those weeks both managers rather forget, but FFS was happy to leave with a win.

Xtreme Fantasy Football 172, Johnny Archive 133
In contrast to the last match up, here is the biggest scoring game of the week between my radio partner Mike Bowser and Johnny Archive. Mike from www.xtremefantasyfootball.com practiced what he preaches on his site and on our radio show. He started and scored mad points from Kurt Warner, Clinton Portis, Greg Jennings, and Larry Fitzgerald. IN all those 4 players netted him 110 points on his way to a big victory. Johnny Archive has some fireworks himself scoring 133 points behind fantastic starts by Ernest Graham, Donovan McNabb, Chris Chambers, and Santana Moss. In all his top 4 players brought in 108 points. What a match up and very similar to the Monday night Eagles/Cowboys game.

Scout Fantasy Football 106, Fantasy Football Search 97
Two of the hosts of The Fantasy Football Scouting Report met head on in an early season match up and was it exciting. This game came down to coaching and how to start and bench. To play it simple, Jeff Mans won that battle. The Bears Defense, Donald Driver along with Plaxico Buress put a hurting on The True Guru. I did bench several key players that would have got me the points I need, but risky starts like Ricky Williams, Cardinals Defense, and Donte Rosario netted me only 10.1 points total. By the end of Sunday Scout Fantasy Football led 106-75. I had only one player left, enter Tony Romo. He made it exciting with 31 points, but Jeff got the win and the better of the first Guru match up.

Nooffseason.com 140, NFL Fantasy Playbook 79
Why everyone is thinking Matt Cassel is Tom Brady I just don't know. AJ chose to gran him from free agency and with that brought home only 6 points from his QB position. Paul Hickey at Nooffseason.com had a fantastic game with huge output from Jay Cutler, Darren McFadden, and Calvin Johnson. This was not a pretty match up. AJ will be going back to the drawing board after a 0-2 start.

Fantasy Sports Zone 137, Pro Fantasy Games 113
Rhett Oldham got his first win of the season and kept Pro Fantasy Games winless with a big game performances by Adrian Peterson, Anthony Gonzalez, Titans Defense and Torry Holt. They overpowered Pro Fantasy Games even with big games from Brian Westbrook and Brant Johnson.

Owners Box Sports 153, Junkyard Jake 131
This was an outstanding game between to great teams. Joe from Owners Box Sports had big games from players we expect like Terrell Owens and Anquan Boldin, but also had a 27 point game from Julius Jones. In all that trio scored him a whopping 95 points. RC from Junkyard Jake tried to keep up with outstanding games from Eli Manning, Reggie Wayne, and Giants Defense, but fell short in a shootout.

There are the updates.
