Week 9 The True GURU Picks & Sleepers In Review

Week 9 was another great week for us. We improved our average this week to 67% correct calls overall and had the most picks for one week ever with 110. Again our sleepers were sub par with our best call being Justin Fargas. Here is a rundown for week 9:
QB's 13/21 Correct ( 62%)
RB's 14/22 Correct (64%)
WR's 23/33 Correct ( 70%)
TE's 11/15 Correct (73%)
DEF's 13/19 Correct (69%)

OVERALL THIS WEEK: 74/110 Correct (67%) Last week 61/93 Correct (66%)
"Start at your own risk "calls or players that did not play due to injuries were not counted.

Here is the review of our picks and how they stacked up:

QUARTERBACKS (13/21 62%)

1st Tier Quarterbacks WE RECOMMENDED AS MUST Start:
We recommended 7 QB's as must starts. All but one had great games and that one was Phillip Rivers. Derek Anderson through for over 320 yards and 29 completions. No TD's, but in completion leagues that is very good.

2nd Tier Quarterbacks WE RECOMMENDED You have to Start:
We had great success here. Cutler and Warner really let us down.

4th Tier Quaterbacks WE RECOMMENDED MUST BENCH:
We recommended benching 6 QB's and and we were only correct on 3. Clemens, Roethlisberger, and Gray burned us and in some case very badly. The other three were good to bench and hopefully you did.

RUNNINGBACKS (14/22 65%)

1st Tier Runningbacks WE RECOMMENDED MUST Start:
We had some great calls in our top tier of runningbacks. We got 6 out of 7 correct missing only Shaun Alexander.

2nd Tier Runningbacks WE RECOMMENDED You have to Start:
Out of the 10 picks we made in this tier only about half of them turned out successful. Lamont Jordan and DeShaun Foster were total busts. Kevin Jones did do much either. The star of this tier was Adrian Peterson, 296 yards and 3 TDs.

4th Tier Runningbacks WE RECOMMENDED MUST BENCH:
We recommended benching 6 RBs this week, all but 1 burned us. If you benched Thomas Jones congradulations. If you benched Jamal Lewis, we are sorry.

WIDE RECEIVERS (23/33 70%)
1st Tier Wide Receivers WE RECOMMENDED MUST Start:
In this tier we had minimal success with our 11 picks. We got only 5 correct highlighted by TO, TJ, Evans, and Moss.

2nd Tier Wide Receivers WE RECOMMENDED You have to Start:
We picked 16 WR's in this tier and all but 5 or so did great. Shaun McDonald, Greg Jennings, and Santonio Holmes highlight this tier, while Patrick Crayton, Donte Stallworth, and Steve Smith were major busts.

4th Tier Wide Receivers WE RECOMMENDED MUST BENCH:
We recommended benching 7 WRs, and we were on target with all of them.
Last week Ronald Curry burned us, not this week.

TIGHT ENDS (11/15 73%)

Tight Ends To Start:
We had 7 TE's in our first tier this week and 4 had solid to great games. Whitten and Miller brought in touchdowns, while Winslow piled on 11 catches. Gates and Clark were total busts in a rare display this week.

2nd Tier Tight Ends You have to Start:
Scheffler and Gonzalez had great games. Only Vernon Davis failed us this week in this tier.

Tight Ends To BENCH:
We recommended benching Bubba Franks and Alge Crumpler this week. We hope you did!

DEFENSES (13/19 69%)

1st Tier Defenses MUST Start:
Our defensive picks did great in the first tier except for Washington.

2nd Tier Defenses You have to Start:

We did poorly here. Dallas, Tampa Bay, and New Orleans did well. Baltimore and Jacksonville were big disappointments.

4th Tier Defenses MUST BENCH:

Hopefully you benched Philadelphia, Denver, Minnesota, Carolina, Cleveland, and Cincinnati. We were correct on all of them, but most were easy picks.

SLEEPERS (5/10 50%)

Sleepers were tough again this week. Our star sleeper was Justin Fargas. We went 4/10 overall this week,
Marc Bulger STL (QB) - 310 yards and a TD. Not bad.

Jason Wright CLE (RB) - Jamal Lewis played, and we expected that.

Derrick Ward NYG (RB) - Was inactive.

Shaun McDonald DET (WR) - 6 catches, 64 yards. Better than allot of WRs. Right? Namely, Chad Johnson.

Detroit (DEF) - Played well against Chicago giving up only 7 points.

Jason Campbell WAS (QB) - Campbell was bad. No TDs and barely over 100 yards passing.

JP Loseman, BUF (QB) -He did well. nearly 300 yards and a TD.

Selvin Young/Andre Hall DEN (RB) -

Justin Fargas, OAK (RB) - 119 total yards, and a TD. GOOD PICK!

Daniel Graham DEN (TE) - 3 catches and 40+ yards. Nothing worth talking about.

Leonard Pope ARI (TE) - Nothing at all. BIG BUST.

Atlanta DEF - Atlanta had 2 sacks, 3 INTS, and to DFR. Thy only gave up 16 points, so they were very productive.

Houston DEF - Another solid defense. Only gave up 17 points with a blocked kick, 1 sack, and 2 INTs.

Arnez Battle SAN (WR) - 4 catches for 35 yards. we expected a TD, and 6 catches.

Anthony Gonzalez IND (WR) - dislocated his finger on a TD pass. If he caught that pass he'd be a success, instead he's QUESTIONABLE.

Calvin Johnson DET (WR) - Total bummer. He's quickly turning into a bust for the year.
