Week 12 The True GURU Picks & Sleepers In Review

Week 12 was a great week for us at least from a consistency point-of-view. We averaged over 60% in all categories including 74% in correctly called QBs. With 116 picks (A record for us), we were correct on 68% of them. We have been hovering around the 65% range, which is good, but we are still trying to gt to the golden pot and break back into the 70% range. Since we are calling games on Wed we don't always know all the injuries. We will try to put a check injury status next to possibly hurt players. Others we just won't call for the week since its too up in the air. Sometimes we may not know for sure if a QB will start. We recommended benching Cleo Lemon. We were pretty sure Beck was going to play, so we wanted to make sure Lemon was benched. As for not calling Beck. I really didn't feel like wasting my time telling the readers to bench Beck against the Steelers.

Our sleepers were excellent this week with 6.5 (See below on the .5) successful calls out of 10. We are very pleases getting 65% of our sleepers correct, which in our eyes is incredibly good for sleepers.

Here is a rundown for week 10 with all the numbers:
QB's 14/19 Correct ( 74%)
RB's 14/21 Correct (67%)
WR's 25/40 Correct ( 63%)
TE's 9/15 Correct (61%)
DEF's 17/27 Correct (63%)

OVERALL THIS WEEK: 79/116 Correct (68%) Last week 72/111 Correct (64%) "Start at your own risk "calls or players that did not play due to injuries were not counted.

Here is the review of our picks and how they stacked up:

QUARTERBACKS (14/19 74%)

1st Tier Quarterbacks WE RECOMMENDED AS MUST Start:
We were 6/9for 73% here. Most of the top QBs had a great week. Eli Manning, Big Ben, and Matt Hasslebeck had tough weeks. The other six had 2 or more TDs.

2nd Tier Quarterbacks WE RECOMMENDED You have to Start:
We had amazing success here with 6 out of 7 QB's having great games with the only let done being Marc Bulger who left the game with a concussion. Palmer, Rivers, and Farve had awesome days.

4th Tier Quaterbacks WE RECOMMENDED MUST BENCH:
We recommended benching 3 QB's and got burned by Trent Dilfer. I have a feeling everyone did.

RUNNINGBACKS (14/21 67%)

1st Tier Runningbacks WE RECOMMENDED MUST Start:
This wasn't the best week for top notch RBs. We recommended 8 and only 4 came through. Marion Barber, Maurice Jones-Drew, and Ron Grant had stellar performances. Reggie Bush and Lendal White our heroes from USC were major busts.

2nd Tier Runningbacks WE RECOMMENDED You have to Start:
We were much improved here with 7 out of 9 correct calls to start at runningback. Brian Westbrook, Willis McGahee, LaDainian Tomlinson, Ernest Graham, Chester Taylor, and Justin Fargas had great games. Cedric Benson was a bust, but left the game with a season ending knee injury.

4th Tier Runningbacks WE RECOMMENDED MUST BENCH:
Again, Jamal Lewis has burned us. Wow. All the rest you hopefully benched.

WIDE RECEIVERS (25/40 63%)

1st Tier Wide Receivers WE RECOMMENDED MUST Start:
In this tier we gave you 13 WR's to start and 5 let us down for the second week in a row. Those 5 were BIG names like Andre Johnson, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Randy Moss, Torry Holt, and Anquin Boldin had BUST games. Larry Fitzgerald and Greg Jennings came up big.

2nd Tier Wide Receivers WE RECOMMENDED You have to Start:
This tier had 16 picks and we only got 50% right. Wow, outside of great performances by Chad Johnson, Benard Berrian, and Issac Bruce there isn't a whole lot more to talk abut. Just terrible.

4th Tier Wide Receivers WE RECOMMENDED MUST BENCH:
We recommended benching 8 WRs, and we were on target all, but two for the second straight week. Roddy White and Arnez Battle burned us. I don't think we will say that again this season.

TIGHT ENDS (9/15 61%)

Tight Ends To Start:
We got 4/8 in this tier. Tightends didn't do much this week. Chris Cooley
Dallas Clark, Jason Whitten, and Kevin Winslow had great games.

2nd Tier Tight Ends You have to Start:
We did better in this tier picking 3/5 correct. Antonio Gates stands out here, along with Tony Scheffler.

Tight Ends To BENCH:
We recommended benching Vernon Davis, Desmond Clark, and Alge Crumpler again this week. This time we got burned by Vernon Davis and the hot new Dilfer-to-Davis connection.
DEFENSES (17/27 63%)

1st Tier Defenses MUST Start:
We did well in this tier with 7/9. 5/8 correct. Arizona and Seattle were busts, and New England did poorly, but did get turnovers and scored a DTD.

2nd Tier Defenses You have to Start:
Ok, where do we start. We got 2 out of 7 right. Those were Tampa Bay and Washington ans we aren't bragging about those calls. Just terrible.

4th Tier Defenses MUST BENCH:

We told you to bench 11 defenses in fear of heavy scoring. 2 burned us and had good performances. Believe it or not those two teams were Miami (in heavy rain) and Cincinnati. Yeah...

SLEEPERS 6.5/10 65%)

Oakland, DEF - 17 points, under 300 yards, 3 sacks, FF, and INT. Not bad for a one shot start.

Chris Chambers, SAN (WR) - 5 catches for only 22 yards, but he got his TD.

Anthony Gonzalez, IND (WR) - 6 catches for 105 yards, we will take that. We hoped for the TD, but he did well.

Kellen Clemens, NYJ (QB) - We expected more against the Cowboys. He was over matched and outplayed.

Vince Young, TEN (QB) - Disappointment of the week. Allot of readers said this wasn't a sleeper. THEY WERE RIGHT!

Kolby Smith KAN, (RB) - 150 yards and 2TD's. GREAT CALL!

Frank Gore, SAN (RB) - I knew he was due to explode. 148 yards and 2 TDs.

James Jones, Green Bay (WR) - In a reception point league 5 catches for 75 nets you 10 points. Here is the .5 in our average. He was kinda good. HE OUTPLAYED RANDY MOSS!

Ron Dayne , HOU (RB) - 85 total yards isn't anything to bragg at.

David Garrard - 300 yards and a TD. I'll take that!
