Week 4 GURU Picks/Sleepers In Review

This was a hit or miss week and injuries played a big role in it.

Quarterbacks

Donovan McNabb and Phillip Rivers let us down. We've been high on McNabb just about all year, but everytime we pick him he goes six feet under. So next week we will pretend to not pick him, so in fact we are picking him. Get it?

Phillip just had a aweful game. Less than 50% completion percentage, 2 INTs, and a fumble. The key was no touchdowns. We still feel he's a great QB, but he let us all down this week, not just his team.

Romo, Manning, and Brady didn't let us down this week and rarely do. Matt Schaub, Jon Kitna, and Matt Hassleback also did us proud.

We recommended benching Lienart and Alex Smith, but failed badly with Farve and Culpepper.

Quarterback Hit/Miss ratio: 10/20 50%

Runningbacks

Runningbacks suffered some serious injuries and some not so serious injuires this week. Carnell Williams went down for the year, and LaMont Jordan and Josesph Addai went down for the week.

Addai, Tomlinson, and MaGahee had solid good games, while Barbar and Gore had quiet games. Gore did have 121 all-purpose yards, but failed to score the second week in a row.

Adrian Peterson, Ronnie, Brown, and Larry Johnson came through with very good performances.

We recommended benching 5 key runningbacks. We hit the nail on the head with Rudi Johnson, Maroney, and Ahman Green. Though Jamal Lewis scored a TD, 64 yards doesn't seem very worthy. Henry didn't get in the end zone himself, but 131 yards is a worthy start.

Runningback Hit/Miss ratio: 12/18 67%

Wide Receivers
Again injuries played a role that impacted Marvin Harrison, Torry Holt, and Steve Smith. We weren't sure if Delhomme was going or not for S. Smith. We feel that even with Bulger's rib injury, Hot should have had a better game, and failed to do so.

We got it right for TJ Houshmandzadeh , Randy Moss, and Reggie Wayne, but failed with TO and Torry Holt not finding he end zone.

We still recommended starting Santonio Holmes and Larry Fitzgerald who both had great games.

Our worst call of the week was benching Braylon Edwards. He is on one of my fantasy teams, and on Saturday night I changed my mind and started him once I saw the true injuries to the Baltimore defense. I should have updated my blog as well and I will do that next time. The other 4 bench recommendations were on the spot.

Receivers Hit/Miss ratio: 12/21 58%
Tight Ends
Again more misses on Tight Ends. Tony Gonzalez burned us, while B. Watson and Jeremy Shockey let us down. We did successfully pick Jason Whitten and Dallas Clark, so somethings came out good.
Tight End Hit/Miss ratio: 6/14 43%
Kickers
Kickers Hit/Miss ratio: 9/12 75%
Overall we are going to call this a down week. We made successful picks only 58% of the time which is way below our season average of 71%. Injuries ad bad match ups played a role, but overall this week we just didn't do well.

SLEEPERS - Again we went out on a limb picking 11 sleepers for week 4 and we did not disappoint.

Bryant Johnson - This pick did fail us. Only 3 catches, 37 yards.

Brian Griese - We consider him having a solid fantasy game. 286 yards, 2 TDs, 3 INTS. If you started him, he got you solid points on a bye week.

Marshan Lynch - Great game. 79 yards and he found the end zone.

Brian Leonard - The Dallas Defense stuck him, but watch out in week 5

Jerricho Cotchery - Came up big with 8 catches 106 yards, but failed to find the end zone. Still, we will take it.

Derrick Mason - 10 catches and 78 yards. If you are in a receptions points league like me, you are happy with this solid performance.

Amani Toomer - 4 catches and 54 yards does NOT cut it as a sleeper, but Burress did play and we were assuming he might not.

Tamp Bay Defense - Can you say wow. Awesome performance from this defense.

Wes Walker - 3 catches, and 49 total yards. Not good.

Edgerrin James - 84 total yards and a TD. We knew he'd find success against the Pittsburgh defense.

Patrick Crayton - Amazing. 7 catches 184 yards and 2 TD's. This pick alone makes our sleepers great this week.

Overall Hit/Miss ratio for SLEEPERS 7/11 64%

We consider that a awesome week for our sleepers and have found great success in picking the sleeper players each week.
