The True GURU's 4 Fantasy Football Leagues Introduction

Hey Everyone. Throughout the year I'm going to be discussing Fantasy Football to you and I will be referring many times in this blog and on my radio show to all of my leagues. Since I will be discussing them and sharing my experiences I have using those league systems and playing with the players I have, I want to introduce you to all four leagues. I want be discussing rosters too much, but for all my roster and draft info, goto http://www.fantasyfootballsearch.com/guru_leagues.html to see all that information and more. On that page I will update my record to keep you all updated on how The True GURU performs. I'm certainly not afraid to match my words with actions.
Here we go, my leagues:

Vegas Vs Texas League
This is the league that branded me The True GURU. I've been with these guys for 8 years now, and they are the best. I met all of the Texas guys while we served in the USAF at Dyess AFB. Since then, I've added friends of mine from Las Vegas, where I live. This league is run from CBS Sportsline, and it’s our 2nd season with CBS. So far it’s been good with a few small issues. The point system is not your typical "Runningback Dominated System". The system I setup energizes the QB, WR, TE, and Kickers. We give points for Completions, but deduct for attempts. We give points for receptions, which help all WRs, TEs, and RBs. We give the kickers points based on the distance of the kick, and 50+ yard kicks can get you 12 pts! I love this system because all of a sudden it’s not all about the runningbacks. They still carry the weight with 1pt for every 10 yards, and 1 pt receptions, but now the QB is king, and rightfully so. In the NFL itself, whose shoulders do the responsibility of winning fall on? In most every case it does not fall on the runningback, but the quarterback. It’s the Manning’s, Romo's, and McNabb's. Shouldn't it be that way in fantasy football too? We think so. In our league, 3-4 QB's are drafted in the 1st round and overall #2 (Peyton Manning). Yea, that's real fantasy football.
This league is very competitive, and at times can get filthy (all in fun of course). Like anyone who plays in multiple leagues, you always have the league you take the most serious. This is that one for me. My key players are Frank Gore, Westbrook, Gates, and the Chicago DEF.

The Xtreme Fantasy Football Expert Challenge
My friends over at Xtreme Fantasy Football invited me to get roasted in this league. This league is run through Myfantasyleagues.com and is my first time using the system. The draft was auction style, and this was my first of that type. I drafted a fairly solid team, thought I missed the last 3 rounds, so the computer got me players like Corey Dillion! (You never know?...)
Anyhow, the rules are fairly standard, but the kickers get points for distance. This league is played not only for pride, but respect within the Fantasy Football community. It’s my first expert league, and I feel I will dominate it and show you all who is The True GURU! My key players here are Larry Johnson, TJ Who’s Your Momma!, Donavan McNabb, and Adrian Peterson. Wish me luck, I'll need it!

Coast 2 Coast
Another USAF buddy invited me to this one last season and this will be my second season in this league. The rules for this league are very standard, and runningback dominated. The league is very competitive. I finished in first last regular season, but got ousted in week two of the playoffs and finished with a gorgeous 3rd place Yahoo! trophy. This is a free Yahoo! league, so there are limitations. I've been playing on Yahoo! for 9 years now. It’s great for regular fun leagues, but once you become a self-proclaimed expert, move on. My key players are Frank Gore, Carson Palmer, Chad Johnson, and Maurice Jones-Drew.

Go Big Or Stay Home v2.0
I love this league. It’s my first year in it, but it has 4 people in it form he above leagues, and will be FILTY in competition. The league is run through FOX Sports and is the first time I've had a league using FOX Sports.
This league isn't about money, oh no, money is cheap. This league is about PRIDE. Losing here won't cost you cash in the pocket, but pride in your heart.
The rule system for this league is kind of in-between my system and the regular "RB Dominated System". Here kickers get extra points for longer kicks, there are lots of bonus points for exceeding certain yardage, and WRs and QBs are powered-up by getting more points for yards. It should be fun. I had a pretty good draft in this league, so I should be able to master these fools! My key players are Frank Gore, Peyton Manning, Reggie Wayne, and Chicago DEF.

Well, those are my teams. Throughout the season in this blog I will keep you up-to-date on how I'm doing in these leagues and the systems they are on. Keep watching my posts for that information and my expert analysis week-to-week on all the games. If you have a question, email us at guru@fantasyfootballsearch.com. Good luck all!
